Google to discontinue political affiliation targeting

Google this month announced that it will no longer allow political affiliation to be used to target ads to users or to promote advertisers’ products or services in the United States. Google will discontinue political affiliation targeting starting on January 6, 2020.

Advertisers not complying with the policies may have their accounts or ads suspended.

Google only allows political ads in the US for verified advertisers. The verification process takes between 3 to 5 business days and mainly confirms the organization name paying the ads. Google then displays this information to users.
