Google unveils AI-Powered Pixel 9, Watch 3, and Buds Pro 2 at Made by Google 2024

Google this week held its annual Made by Google hardware event, announcing a range of new AI-powered devices and features. The company introduced the Pixel 9 smartphone series, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel Watch 3, and Pixel Buds Pro 2, all featuring enhanced AI capabilities powered by Google's latest Tensor G4 chip.

According to Google, the Pixel 9 phones come with upgraded cameras and new AI editing tools like Magic Editor, which allows users to easily reframe and edit photos after they've been taken. The Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL models feature a new 42-megapixel front camera and improved telephoto lens for sharper images in low light.

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is Google's latest foldable phone, featuring what the company claims is the largest inner display on any mobile device. It incorporates a fluid-friction hinge that opens flat and utilizes AI for multitasking features like split-screen apps.

Google also announced the Pixel Watch 3, which comes in two sizes and includes new fitness tracking features powered by Fitbit. A notable addition is Loss of Pulse Detection, which can automatically call emergency services if it detects a loss of pulse in the wearer. This feature will initially be available in select European countries starting in September.

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 were introduced as well, featuring improved noise cancellation and deeper integration with Google's AI assistant capabilities. According to Google, the earbuds can adapt to environmental noise up to 3 million times per second.

The company also highlighted new accessibility features powered by AI, including improvements to the Guided Frame camera feature for visually impaired users and expanded language support for Live Caption and Live Transcribe.

The new Pixel devices will be available for pre-order starting August 13, with most hitting store shelves in September. Pricing starts at $799 for the base Pixel 9 model.
