Google worker does the fat-finger error and may have spent 10 million across publishers

A Google worker hit the wrong button on DV360 last Tuesday, during a training, and a blank yellow rectangle ad was active for a period of 45 minutes across multiple publishers worldwide.

Google confirmed to FT that will pay the publishers where the ad had impressions.    Google didn't confirm the value spent by mistake.

The Google trainee created LIs (Line Items) bidding 10 times more the normal value of the medium rectangle, with a CPM of 25 USD, when the avg CPM for the rectangle size is around 2 USD.

Google said to FT that this was an "honest mistake" and that will putting in place safeguards so the mistake doesn't happen again.
